History
- Richland launched its outreach program in 1996 as a way to educate and assist area residents in basic environmental issues.
- Because Richland owns its landfill, it is important to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost our waste material.
- City beautification projects, litter prevention, stormwater and water quality awareness and water and energy conservation efforts also improve our environment and the community we live in.
- Since 1996, Richland has taken the lead to plan and organize Earth Day. From inception, the event has grown and renamed, Mid-Columbia Earth Month and Community Clean-up.
