History

  • Richland launched its outreach program in 1996 as a way to educate and assist area  residents in basic environmental issues.
  • Because Richland owns its landfill, it is important to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost our waste material.
  • City beautification projects, litter prevention, stormwater and water quality awareness and water and energy conservation efforts also improve our environment and the community we live in.
  • Since 1996, Richland has taken the lead to plan and organize Earth Day.  From inception, the event has grown and renamed, Mid-Columbia Earth Month and Community Clean-up.
  • For more information, explore this site or contact the environmental education coordinator, Gail Everett at (509) 942-7730 or geverett@ci.richland.wa.us
