The Richland Police Department allows officers to be hired for special events such as funeral escorts, special traffic control needs, high school dances and games, and large-crowd events like the Allied Art Show, Cool Desert Nights and Limited Lite boat racing.
The rate for hiring off-duty officers is $35.00 per hour with a minimum 3-hour work period ($105.00 per officer). Two officers are normally assigned to events. Sergeant Jeff Taylor (jtaylor@ci.richland.wa.us, 509-942-7352) coordinates the hiring of off-duty officers.
