City of Richland leaders launched an environmental education program in 1996 to protect our local environment, conserve energy, water and solid waste resources and to better control future costs of utilities.
The program includes award winning community outreach programs for classrooms, civic organizations and businesses, an informative website, blog, community activities and partnerships with local businesses and the media.

YARD WASTE COLLECTION RESUMES
Crews will be collecting the green yard waste containers every other week starting March 2nd. Place your green bin at the curb by 7am on your regular collection day. Acceptable materials include grass, leaves, sticks, shrubs and garden organics.
CURBSIDE DONATION COLLECTION PROGRAM BEGINS
Residents can donate Items for community reuse in their curbside recycling bin. Goodwill Industries of the Columbia is beginning a curbside collection program in partnership with the City of Richland and Clayton Ward Recycling.
LIGHT BULB RECYCLING PROGRAM LAUNCHES
You can now take fluorescent lights (tubes and curly bulbs) and other dangerous waste lamps to Ace Hardware stores for collection and proper disposal. Ace Hardware stores in Richland are located at 103 Keene and 1415 George Washington Way. More info below
