Richland Energy Services (RES) is the City-operated public power utility that provides reliable, safe, not-for-profit electric services to City of Richland customers. We are directly accountable for service to our customers through the City Council
, which governs the management and operations of the utility. The Utility Advisory Committee
(UAC) serves as an advisory group to the City Council for policy and planning the overall management, financing, and operations of all Richland utilities. We strive to operate with transparency and openness in all of our operations and encourage you to contact us with questions or comments.
City of Richland Energy Services (RES) provides electric service to over 22,000 residential, commercial, industrial and irrigation customers throughout our 50-square mile service territory, using 519 miles of primary line and 8 substations.
RES employs 58 women and men who work hard to keep your lights on and appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Our employees respond to power outages no matter what time of day it is or how bad the weather.

located at 2700 Duportail at the City Shops, is responsible for maintenance and construction of power lines. Our crews are made up of Crew Foremen, Electrical Dispatchers, Journeyman Linemen, Equipment Operators and Groundmen.
is responsible for maintenance of traffic signals, school zone signals and radios, including telemetry and voice. This division is also responsible for the electrical maintenance to all city-owned buildings, which include parks, boat docks, and water and wastewater systems. Our employees are Electronic and Instrumentation Technicians, Industrial Electricians and System Electricians.
is responsible for maintenance and installation of electrical meters, substation maintenance, transformer maintenance and meter reading. Our employees are Journeyman Metermen, Journeyman Substation Electricians, Locators and Meter Readers.
