City of Richland Strategic Plan

Can you picture the City of Richland in 20 years?  Will it have plenty of parks, good streets, affordable neighborhoods and a strong economy?  What will the City be known for?  Will the surrounding environment be healthy and accessible to everyone?

With good, solid strategic leadership and planning, the Richland of 2030 can be all those things and more.  But it will require a flexible roadmap to the future.  It will require our focused attention to short and long-term projects and plans.  It will require commitment from all members of our community.

That’s why the Richland City Council has developed a leadership plan, “Keys To Unlock Our Future,” to promote strategic leadership and performance and to guide the community into the future.  The plan includes the City’s vision for the community in the year 2030 that reflects what we hope the community can accomplish and what it can become.  In support of that vision, Council has defined seven Key Elements.  Each element includes five-year goals and measurable objectives that define successes.

The plan is not a rigid blueprint to be put on the shelf, but rather a living and flexible guideline designed to help the City Council and the entire community focus limited resources on making the City of Richland the very best it can be.  We will regularly measure progress and report to the community. We will make course corrections when necessary.  But the focus of the vision, “Keys To Unlock Our Future,” will not change and our work to make the vision a reality will continue as the City of Richland moves toward 2030.
