National Night Out and City Fair

Event to close portion of Jadwin Avenue near John Dam Plaza from 3:30pm – 8pm on Tuesday, August 7
The City of Richland invites all citizens to attend the annual National Night Out and City Fair on Tuesday, August 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in John Dam Plaza. This free family-friendly event focuses on crime prevention and safety, and includes the opportunity to learn more about city services and meet city staff. Citizens can meet representatives from City departments including, police, swat, bomb squad, fire and emergency services, solid waste, water, parks and recreation and much more. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a welcoming ceremony at the HAPO Community Stage. The National Anthem will be performed by local country music star and new Richland Police Officer Jamie Buckley and the Young Marines will post the colors. A magic show on the stage will begin at 6:15 p.m. and a prize drawing for kids is scheduled at 7:15 p.m.
The event includes a live DJ, hands-on activities, give-a-ways and demonstrations at over 30 displays and big rigs. There will be free Kona shaved ice and premium hot dogs for the first 500 attendees. Come hold a fire hose, sit in a garbage truck, or see one of the many interactive displays. Kids twelve and under can win cool prizes by completing a City Passport by visiting at least 12 exhibit booths and completing a “City Passport”. Prizes include Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo passes, George Prout Pool passes, an afternoon with a firefighter and two bicycles as grand prizes. You must be present to win.
Parking is available in the west end of the Federal Building parking lot and around City Hall.
Jadwin Avenue, between Mansfield and Knight Streets and bordering the park in front of the Federal Building, will close to through traffic from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The parking lot to the south of the plaza will also close for the day for event preparation. Foot and bicycle transportation is encouraged.
