Shelterbelt Trail Improvement to Begin on Monday
Multi-Use Trail to Close from Swift to Van Giesen
The trail relocation is being completed to replace the asphalt trail within the trees which is impacted by tree roots and results in uneven trail surfaces. The new path will be 10 feet wide with 1 foot gravel shoulders on each side. The asphalt on the existing trail will be removed and a gravel pathway will remain under the trees.
This project was originally scheduled for late spring, but the contractor had a schedule change that allowed the work to being this month. This is the second-phase of trail improvements in the Shelterbelt. The first phase, from Duportail to Swift, was completed in 2015 and 2016. Continued improvements are planned for the future.
It is anticipated that construction will take up to two weeks.
