City of Richland Names Next Director of Richland Energy Services
Richland City Manager, Cindy Reents, has named a new member to the leadership team. Current Engineering & Operations Manager, Clint Whitney, will be the next Director of Richland Energy Services (RES). Clint transitions to his new role on April 5th as current Director Bob Hammond retires.
Whitney has worked for the City of Richland for over 20 years in both engineering and operations capacities. Although not originally from Washington, Clint has lived in the Tri-Cities since 1983. He graduated from Washington State University (WSU) with a BS in Electrical Engineering and is a registered professional engineer. Previously, he spent five years at Hanford working on the electrical distribution system. He is currently working towards a Master’s in Business Administration from WSU with an expectation of completing this fall. He has been married for 30 years and has two sons.
“It has been a pleasure to work for Richland customers and I look forward to continuing to provide reasonable rates and reliable power,” states Whitney.
Richland Energy Services is a City-operated public power utility that provides reliable, safe, non-for-profit electric services to Richland customers. This utility provides service to over 23,000 residential, commercial, industrial, and irrigation customers throughout their 50-square mile service territory, using 552 miles of primary line and 8 substations.
“I’m pleased to promote Clint to Director of Energy Services,” says Reents. “He has proven his commitment and expertise over the past 20 years and I’m confident he will maintain the same level of service and professionalism Richland customers expect.”
