Construction to Commence on Queensgate Drive Improvement Projects
Richland - Next week construction on the Queensgate Drive improvement projects is scheduled to begin. Contractors have already started site preparations for this effort.
The Queensgate Drive improvement projects are in partnership with the City of Richland, Washington State Department of Transportation, and Benton County. Two contractors, Culbert Construction and Central Washington Asphalt, have been hired to complete the improvements to Queensgate Drive from Keene Road to Columbia Park Trail, as well as construction of two roundabouts, one at Columbia Park Trail, and the other at the eastbound on-ramp to I-182.
Construction will not restrict access to businesses on Queensgate between Keene Rd. and Columbia Park Trail. Citizens will still be able to access Columbia Park Trail from Keene Road, as well as the eastbound on-ramp for I-182. However, during a portion of construction, the Queensgate overpass will be closed to traffic heading north. Therefore, citizens are encouraged to look for alternative routes and follow detour and posted directional signage.
The Queensgate Drive improvement projects are anticipated to be completed by August 2018. This schedule may be subject to change and we will communicate any updates accordingly via the project website and social media. Note: Traffic flow will be reduced during construction, however, we do look forward to seeing a significant decrease in this congestion upon project completion.
