Fall Cleanup Now through Dec 27
Richland residents can place bagged leaves, bundled branches, and extra bagged garbage at the curb alongside their full waste containers beginning Monday, November 4 through December 27 on their regularly scheduled service day.
This free service occurs each fall to collect excess yard and garden debris, along with bagged household trash. Branches placed outside of the waste containers must be 4 inches or smaller in diameter and bundled. The extra bags cannot weigh more than 40 pounds or contain hazardous waste, tires, furniture, drywall, demolition debris, rocks, dirt, concrete or bricks.
Yard waste collection from the green cans will continue every other week. Items acceptable in the green can include loose grass, leaves, plant trimmings, garden debris like inedible fruits and vegetables, non-treated wood and branches less than 4" in diameter. Prohibited green can items include garbage, bagged waste, pet waste, dirt, rock, concrete, metal or treated wood. This service will continue through the winter months, except when temperatures are below freezing. Information regarding cancellations will be provided in a timely manner on Richland’s Facebook Page or webpage, www.ci.richland.wa.us/solidwaste.
Residents with proof of garbage service can bring their yard waste to the landfill and dispose of for free throughout the year. Winter hours for the Horn Rapids Sanitary Landfill are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, closed on city-observed holidays.
