The reconstruction of Duportail Street from Wright Avenue to Thayer Drive will provide for one lane of traffic in each direction, bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides, and parking through the residential area. The extension of Duportail Street from Thayer Drive down to Wellsian Way will provide for one lane of traffic in each direction, a center left turn lane in the commercial area, and bike lanes and sidewalks on either side. The project will also include street lights and roundabout landscaping.
The Duportail Reconstruction and Extension Projects are fully funded and the City selected a contractor through its competitive bidding process. Construction began in June 2016. The Thayer Avenue roundabout will be constructed first while the Wright Avenue roundabout will be constructed towards the end of the project.
The projects are being constructed in two segments and access to driveways will be maintained except during certain construction activities such as concrete placement, trenching, etc. We anticipate both projects being complete in October 2016. Click HERE for a Project Schedule.

The City of Richland hosted an Open House on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Richland Community Center. Residents were encouraged to attend this meeting to learn about the Duportail Reconstruction and Extension projects. This is the first of SEVERAL PHASES planned to reconstruct and extend Duportail Street as part of the Duportail/Stevens corridor improvements. City staff was on site to discuss the project and answer questions.
In October 2014, residents were encouraged to attend an open house and provide feedback in person or through an on-line comment form. The City was particularly interested in public input on the following design features: on-street parking, landscaping, and intersection configurations for Wright Avenue and Thayer Drive (Roundabout vs. Stop Control).
