Construction Traffic Delays

The Parkway & Lee Boulevard, between Jadwin Avenue and George Washington Way, will be closed to traffic from 6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. each Friday through October, for the Farmer’s Market. Businesses in the Parkway will remain open.

Jadwin Avenue – (between Knight St. and Swift Blvd.) August 6th Tuesday, will be closed from 4:30 pm to 8 pm for National Night Out.

Hagen Road at Saint Street, a contractor will have one lane of Hagen Road blocked beginning the week of July 8th. The road will remain open but there may be delays.

Swift Boulevard (Jadwin to Stevens), is open to traffic with new striping and pavement markings. Minor lane restrictions will still be in place at various locations as final cleanup work on the project is completed.

George Washington Way (south of Jadwin) and Aaron Drive (GWW to Goethals), final striping will occur beginning Tuesday, July 16. Contractor is scheduled to stripe at night between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. Minor traffic lane closures will be in effect during this work, with a minimum of one lane open in each direction at all times.

George Washington Way (Van Giesen to Sprout), Lane limitations and lane shifts will occur during the work hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.  Expect minor delays due to construction work and changes to traffic signals within the construction area. Starting on Tuesday, July 16, and continuing through Friday, July 26, grinding of the existing asphalt will take place requiring a limitation of 1 lane of traffic in each direction. **MONDAY - WEDNESDAY  JULY 22 - 24** Traffic will remain limited to 1 lane traffic in each direction overnight. 

George Washington Way at Battelle Boulevard Traffic Signal will be switched to flashing operation Monday morning around 8 a.m. The lights will flash yellow on George Washington, which will always have the right-of-way, and red on Battelle Boulevard which will have to stop. Stop signs will also be in place on Battelle Boulevard to remind drivers of the change. The aging traffic signal when evaluated for traffic conditions is not warranted and thus will be removed concurrent with the completion of the George Washington Way overlay project. It should be noted however, the PNNL is financing the installation of Pedestrian Activated Beacons at the intersections of 10th & 11th Streets.

Leslie Road (Gage to Hillview), From July 23 – July 26 during the times of 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. traffic will be limited to southbound traffic only and northbound traffic on Leslie will be detoured to Bellerive Drive to Broadmoor Street.  Expect traffic delays along this segment of Leslie. 

Tapteal Drive, West of Columbia Center Blvd. will be narrowed down to one lane this week as construction work takes place within the roadway. Please drive carefully.

Duportail Bridge Phase 1, Duportail Street, between Queensgate Drive and City View Drive, and between SR 240 and Tanglewood Drive, the Duportail Bridge is under construction. Roads are closed to through traffic. Residents affected by construction may experience minor delays.
