Solid Waste Division

The Solid Waste Division manages the collection and disposal of garbage in Richland. The city also owns and operates the Horn Rapids Sanitary Landfill, located at 3102 Twin Bridges Road.

The Collection Division provides service to residential and commercial customers. Curbside services include refuse, recycling, and yard waste collection.  Please click here for our resident 2018 Curbside Calendar.  Waste containers need to by at curbside by 6 a.m. on your scheduled service day


Fall Clean-up begins November 5 and runs every day through December 28.  This is a free curbside service provided to our residents.  Fall Clean-up is not picked up on City recognized holidays.  Please follow the required specifications for items placed at the curb.  You can find more information in the Fall Edition of Talking Trash .

 Horn Rapids Landfill

The landfill is located at 3102 Twin Bridges Road.  Landfill hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  The landfill is open Monday through Sunday, March - October and Monday through Saturday, November - February.  Landfill is closed all City holidays and Easter.  See the Horn Rapids Landfill link below for specific holiday closures. 

Horn Rapids Landfill no longer accepts hazardous waste material.  Please contact the Benton County Hazardous Waste Office at (509) 736-3084, ext. 5682 for information on disposing of your hazardous material.
